A Rainy Christmas 2010

"Last Christmas, I gave you my heart..."

band01

I was hoping it would be a white Christmas this year since the news had earlier reported that winter 2010 would be the coldest winter in the past 50 years.  However, according to the weather report for the past few days, this year's Christmas would not be a white one, but would be a rainy one instead.  And so this morning, I woke up, opened up my window blinds and found that indeed the weather report was correct... the day started off with a wet, dull morning.

On the other hand, the malls and streets outside have been filled with warm Christmas music, making me feel the joy in air without needing to see any snow on the ground!  To decorate my house for the annual Christmas party held at my house, I decided to crochet a music band and put it next to our fire place (see photo above).

Here are some photos of the band members:

Domo was featured earlier under a previous post.  I wanted it to be part of the band just because the position of its hands seemed perfect for playing the drums. =P  I gave it an extra Christmas hat to give it some more of a Christmasy theme ~

band03

Kronos the bear was made using a similar pattern as my Mochi bear featured in another post of mine.  The design of the scarf was inspired by a scarf that I saw being sold at Banana Republic~ (their scarf was much prettier of course!)

band04

Tami is the one with the big heart on its tummy.  It's supposed to be a squirrel. =)

Chu Totoros into the Mail!

After two weeks of studying for final exams, my winter break has finally started!! In other words, I'm FREE for the next two weeks! =D =D =D

Digging my head into piles of notes and textbooks was not fun for me.  And so after my last exam on Thursday, I immediately went on a shopping spree for two days in a row to release all my stress! XD  Shopping is a great way to release stress especially when all the stores at the malls are going on sale for Christmas already!  :)  It seems like this year the stores are going on sale much earlier than usual, with discounts up to 50% off the entire store already when it's not even Boxing week yet ~ It's funny how back when I was a kid, stores went on sale only on Boxing day.  After a few years, the stores started advertising for Boxing week instead of Boxing day.  I guess the stores are heading for Boxing month now.  Imagine 10 years from now, they'll start advertising for Boxing years... =p

Anyways, focusing back on my blog about amigurumi, I just finished crocheting a few Chu Totoros!  I've made one earlier during my previous Totoro post, but these extra ones are gifts that I had promised to crochet for my friends and family members a few months ago but never had the time to make them until now.

Chu Totoros

Do they look the same?  I tried to make all of them look alike, but I never wrote down the pattern for any of them so they all ended up being made using a slightly different pattern.

Mail out!

Off they go into the mail!

Happy Christmas shopping everyone! =)
